You do not need Level 1 before Level 2. Level 1 is a valuable introduction; Level 2 is also open to learners without a previous wine qualification.
LEVEL 1
For people who are new to wine or want a structured introduction. Learn the main styles, principal grapes, tasting, food pairing and service essentials.

For people who already enjoy wine and want considerably more depth. Connect grapes, regions, climate and winemaking with the wine in your glass.

Level 2 knowledge is required. Advanced study develops your understanding, tasting and analysis considerably further.
SommWine plans to offer Level 3 again after the new WSET Level 3 release. Dates and registration are not yet confirmed.

WINE EDUCATION WITH SOMMWINE
Understand why wines taste the way they do. Joanne’s practical approach connects the information you study with what you notice in your glass.
Joanne is a WSET Diploma graduate, certified WSET wine educator and sommelier, with more than 15 years’ wine and hospitality experience. She has taught WSET in Whistler since 2018.

EXTRA STUDY SUPPORT
SommWine WSET Level 1 and Level 2 students receive the relevant Ultimate Guide free, whether studying online or in person. Practise with questions, videos and study tools, including mind maps where available, to reinforce your learning and prepare for the exam.
