SOMMWINE MEDIA KIT · WINE & BEER EDUCATION

Connect Your Brand With People Who Want to Understand What They're Drinking

SommWine combines wine and beer education, digital content and in-person experiences to connect producers and brands with engaged consumers, students, hospitality professionals and wine enthusiasts.

01 · ABOUT SOMMWINE

Expertise that makes wine understandable

Joanne DiGeso is the educator behind SommWine, based in Whistler, British Columbia. She is a WSET Diploma graduate, certified WSET wine and beer educator and sommelier, with more than 15 years’ experience in wine and hospitality.

Joanne completed the WSET Diploma in 2017, the Wine Educator programme in 2018 and the Beer Educator programme in 2024. She has taught WSET in Whistler since 2018, online and in person.

Her approach connects grapes, regions, growing conditions and production with what people actually notice in the glass. The aim is understanding, rather than memorizing disconnected facts.

03 · LEARNING WITH A PURPOSE

A high-intent wine audience

The conversation starts with a practical question: what am I drinking, why does it taste this way, and what should I try next?

Learning and choosing

People learning about wine and beer, taking WSET qualifications, seeking education and recommendations, and making choices about the wine they purchase.

Putting knowledge to work

People attending private and corporate tastings, working in hospitality, or building and managing wine collections.

04 · REAL-WORLD ENGAGEMENT

More than digital reach

Joanne’s work brings her into direct contact with consumers and professionals through WSET education, private wine tastings, corporate experiences, hospitality training, private and collectors’ cellars, and educational events.

These settings make room for questions, comparisons and conversation. A wine can be tasted and discussed in context: its producer, region, grape, style and story.

05 · PARTNERSHIP POSSIBILITIES

Ways to work with SommWine

Start with the product, the story and the people you want to reach. Opportunities are discussed individually; none of these routes guarantees independent editorial coverage.

Editorial Samples

Submit wine or beer for independent editorial consideration under the Samples + Tasting Policy.

Wine & Beer Features

Discuss a product or story that may be relevant to SommWine’s educational audience.

Event Wine Partnerships

Explore supplying wine for an educational event where guests can taste and learn about it.

Private + Corporate Event Placement

Discuss whether a wine is a suitable fit for a particular private or corporate tasting.

Educational Collaborations

Connect a producer, product or regional story with a useful learning topic.

Winery/Region Features

Introduce a winery or region and the people, growing conditions and decisions behind its wines.

Interviews + Video

Discuss an interview or video idea that helps people understand a wine, beer, producer or place.

Hospitality + Trade Education

Explore practical educational opportunities for hospitality teams or trade audiences.

06 · CONTEXT, CONVERSATION AND TASTING

Tell the story behind the bottle

Working with SommWine offers a way to put a product into an educational context, rather than simply displaying a bottle.

Make the wine understandable

Help people connect region, grape, style and quality with the wine in their glass — and understand the producer’s story.

Connect learning with experience

Combine online discoverability with real-world tasting opportunities, reaching people actively learning about and purchasing wine.

07 · CLEAR BOUNDARIES

Editorial independence

Editorial samples do not guarantee coverage. Joanne and SommWine retain editorial independence over reviews and recommendations.

Paid or commercial partnerships and event collaborations must be clearly distinguished from independent editorial coverage. Supplying wine, sponsoring an event or discussing a commercial collaboration does not purchase an independent review.
